vpn restriction

VPN access will not be restricted,  while it would be amazing it would hinder the player base by restricting those who are genuine players not allowing them to connect.

It would also mean checking every single IP, against dozens, if not thousands of VPNs that are readily available.

VPN checkers only have so many active checks allowed per month, and paid variants are extremely expensive.

Going off past calcuations (now outdated) a vpn check would need to give a quota of around 8,500 checks per month, to ensure all connections could be checked.

This figure is only approximate, and no means accurate.

Can't you just block few free VPN services like Tunnelbear because these are used mostly for evading

Even the best systems cannot tell you which VPN an IP belongs to. (dio lucky case) It happens very rarely. This is not worth doing at all. People will always find alternative routes and VPNs are also updating their security and protocols to become the number 1.
I have an alternative suggestion that could work: An MCNR-only VPN server, by MCNR. If there's concerns re monthly bandwidth or abuse - limit connections via firewall only to MCNR IP addresses.

Players must be whitelisted to use the VPN, this can be achieved through the authentication methods (i.e. user/pass). If player connects again after a ban, proof can be conclusive asf because VPN usage will be logged, and MCNR runs the VPN.
See Clink making a fool of himself here lmao
