This Privacy Policy explains how Mike's Cops and Robbers ("MCNR", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects personal data when you play on our GTA San Andreas Multiplayer server, use our website at mikescnr.com, interact with our support ticket and feedback systems, or join our Discord community.
We are committed to handling your data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Mike's Cops and Robbers is a hobby-run GTA San Andreas Multiplayer (SA-MP) game server and community, including an associated website, support ticket system, and Discord server. For the purposes of data protection law, MCNR is the "data controller" responsible for your personal data.
You can contact us about any privacy matter via our support page at mikescnr.com/support — or, if you're unable to use that, by emailing [email protected].
| Category | Examples | When it's collected |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Username, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text) | When you register an account on the website, forum, or ticket system |
| Security question & answer | The recovery question and answer you choose, if you set one up in-game | When you set or update an in-game security question for account recovery |
| Connection & technical data | IP address, connection logs, in-game session timestamps, client/version information | Automatically, whenever you connect to the game server or website |
| Discord information | Discord user ID, username, and messages sent in channels our bot monitors | When you join our Discord server or interact with our Discord bot |
| Donation & payment information | Transaction ID, donation amount, date, and the name/email you provide to PayPal | When you make a donation or purchase a VIP perk via PayPal |
| Communications & content | In-game chat logs, support ticket messages, forum posts, feedback/suggestion comments and votes | When you chat in-game, raise a ticket, or post on the website |
We do not collect or store your full payment card or bank details. These are handled directly by PayPal under its own privacy policy — see PayPal's Privacy Statement.
If you submit an email address (for example, when registering an account), it is used only for account-related purposes such as password resets, ticket replies, and important service notices. Your email address is visible only to server staff/administrators who need it to provide support — it is never displayed publicly, shown to other players, or shared with third parties beyond what's described in section 5 below.
Unlike your password, an in-game security question and answer are not one-way hashed, since staff need to be able to read them to verify your identity during account recovery. They are visible to server staff/administrators only, used solely for that purpose, and are never displayed publicly or shared with other players. We'd recommend not using sensitive personal information as your answer.
Under UK GDPR Article 6, we rely on the following legal bases:
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with the following third parties, only as needed to run the service:
We may also disclose data where required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MCNR, our players, or others (for example, in response to a lawful request from a law enforcement authority).
Our server infrastructure is hosted in France, by So You Start (part of the OVH group) — within the EU. Some third parties we use (such as PayPal and Discord) are based outside the UK/EEA, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on those providers' own compliance mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions) to ensure your data remains protected to UK GDPR standards.
| Data type | Typical retention period |
|---|---|
| Account details | For as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case you return or need account recovery |
| Connection/IP logs | Up to 90 days for general security/anti-cheat purposes. Where an IP address is tied to an active ban, it may be retained for longer to enforce that ban and detect evasion. |
| Chat & ticket logs | Up to 12 months, for moderation and support history |
| Donation/payment records | Up to 6 years, to meet UK financial record-keeping requirements |
| Discord messages | Governed by Discord's own retention settings and our bot's logging configuration |
If you delete your account or ask us to erase your data, we will remove or anonymise it within a reasonable timeframe, except where we're legally required to keep certain records (such as donation records for tax purposes).
Our website uses strictly necessary cookies — for example, to keep you logged in and to maintain your session.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall site usage (e.g. page views and visit counts). Cloudflare Web Analytics is designed to be privacy-friendly: it does not use cookies or any persistent client-side identifiers, and does not track you individually across visits or other websites. It may briefly process your IP address to generate aggregated, anonymised statistics. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not use services like Google Analytics.
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, please use our support page at mikescnr.com/support — if you're unable to use that, you can email [email protected] instead. We'll respond within one month, as required by law.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Our services are not directed at, or intended for, children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not create an account, make a donation, or provide personal information to us. Discord's own terms additionally require users to be at least 13 years old. If we become aware that we've collected data from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. This includes storing passwords using industry-standard one-way hashing methods (so we never store or can view your actual password), restricting administrative access to personal data, and maintaining secure server configurations. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.
Keeping your account secure is a shared responsibility. While we take steps to protect the data we hold (see section 11), we are not responsible for any loss, misuse, or compromise of your account that results from how you manage your own credentials — for example, if your password is guessed, phished, or leaked from another, unrelated service.
To help keep your account safe, we recommend that you:
If your account is compromised due to a weak, reused, or shared password, we'll do what we reasonably can to help you recover it, but we cannot guarantee restoration of lost progress, items, or VIP perks, and we accept no liability for any resulting loss.
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We'll post the updated version on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Significant changes may also be announced via Discord or our website.
