Custom launchers and client-side anti-cheats have their own downsides. You can't force the entire community to download a file just to play on your server. Expect to lose at least half of your player base.
Also, the current anti-cheat (Nexius's anti-cheat) isn't bad. It's not as accurate because MCNR is using y_hooks, so the regular ALS hooks from the anti-cheat come after MCNR's in the hook chain, and their order ends up being wrong. Nexius was considering a fix for this (by using pre-hooks), but it hasn't been implemented yet.
