Section 3 - Deathmatching rules
Below is a list of VALID reasons to attack or kill another player. If you cannot cite one of these reasons for attacking or killing a player, the rule has been broken.
- The player has killed you within the last hour and during the same active city.
- The player has damaged you or your property.
- The player has intentionally attempted to damage/kill you.
- The player has stolen something from you, even if you don't own it (e.g. carjacking you and you are in a car you carjacked).
- The player is attempting to steal your property such as attempting to carjack you or breaking into your house.
- The player has threatened violence or robbery.
- The player is following you and not stopping after being told to stop repeatedly (at least 3 times over 5 minutes).
- You are a wanted criminal (yellow/orange/red) and a police officer is pursuing you or trying to ticket/arrest/kill you.
- You are a cop and the suspect is armed (weapon in hand), was recently armed, is attacking, threatening to attack, or recently attacked someone.
- The player has a bounty on their head, including most wanted (red name) for vigilante bonus, except for if you are public service (cop/medic/fire).

TO DISCUSS:
- Can you kill someone if you want to rob them, be it their cash, their vehicle, the bank robbery bag they have? What if _you_ rob someone? People can just rob and kill, and get away with killing anyone? Including cops?

Punishments
The level of punishment for breaking server rules varies from offence to offence, especially taking into account the severity and repeat offenders.

On the first offence, players should be warned and infracted. Actions may be taken to prevent further occurances of the offence, for example a DMer may be jailed or a spammer may be muted.
On the second offence, more drastic measures will be taken, such as kicking the player or even a short-term ban.
On the third offence, the user may be banned for a longer period.

Infraction System
We use a points-based infraction system to issue warnings to players that break rules. This allows us to track past offences and identify repeat offenders, and also facilitates a system whereby players that repeatedly break the rules get banned.

The points given to a player for breaking a rule depend on the exact situation, and staff will take into account severity, sincerity in acknowledgement of wrong-doing and corrective action (apology), and repeat offenders. For example spamming in all caps might only get you 1 or 2 infraction points. Doing it again will likely get you 4 or 5.

Once a player accumulates 10 infraction points they will be banned from the server for a week. After that week, they will return and still have the same number of infraction points. If they get any more infractions and end up with 10+ points again, the ban will be extended to 1 month, 6 months, and then indefinitely.

Infraction points will go down by 1 every 6 hours played. This system is due to be changed so that individual infractions expire based on time.

Updates
These rules may be updated at any time with or without notice. It is each players responsibility to ensure they are aware of the latest rules before playing. We will endeavour to notify players of rule changes by posting replies to this topic. Big rule changes may notify players ingame.
