WARNING: This topic contains references to vulgar racist words.

Recently there have been a few situations where players using variations of the N-word are being punished wrongly. I’m writing this topic to ensure everyone knows MCNR’s stance on this.

As you know there are two words that sound the same but are spelled different and mean very different things.

Ni**er  is a vulgar racist word which is only used to incite hate. This word is not to be used in any circumstance by anyone. Use of this word will result in an infraction, mute, and possibly a temporary ban.

Nigga is a variation of the word adapted by the black community to take a vulgar word and make it their own. The argument here is that a non-black person using the word ‘nigga’ is racist. This is not the case. It depends on the context in which the word is used.

Here are some examples..

Racist:
I hate niggas
This nigga is ugly
I killed a nigga

Not racist:
Let’s go my nigga
Hey what’s up my nigga

Uncertain:
Fuck you nigga
This would depend on the context. More than likely not racist.

Should ban the use of the word.

Regardless whether a person is African/American or not.

It would cause less problems if both Ni**er and nigga is filtered out by the chat.

I don’t agree.They are way different than each other.It is easy to understand if a word is used for racial assaults or not.It shouldn’t be banned.

I believe that nowadays and especially online and even more in a game, the actual context of the sentence, where this word is being used, is the most important thing to watch. As soon as it is used in hateful speech, for example, then the necessary reaction to this can be expected. But yeah, a lot of games, including Rockstar, seem to be tolerant on that word, again as long as it fits into the right context. So yeah, it’s a matter of interpretation!

JUST USE An auto filter like in the the other servers like you sAy nigga and it filters it like 
Ni**a or ni**er thats much better

Ni**er NO! Nigga. Yes but like ya'll said it depends on how the word is used.

I use the word in the server as I please as a way of greetings because... Well I'm half black and it's like a staple in my country to use the word
I almost never hear the word Ni**er  expect for games like COD etc.
I'm not with the vote to ban the word.
