can't stop walking

I have this weird problem ingame that I can't stop walking. My char walks to the left at a 45 degree angle and will not stop. If I press the s key he will stop, but this is not a good fix because other keys need to be pressed while playing the game.

In vehicle I can drive straight ahead but can't turn to the right. The D key does not work, neither do the arrow keys. This makes the game unplayable.

While swimming everything works normally. I do not understand it.

The weird part is it does not always happen at login. Tonight I was chasing a stolen car when it started during the chase. All of a sudden I could not steer to the right.

If anyone has suggestions how to fix this it would be most appreciated.

This is definitely a GTA issue and not SA-MP.

I have had this issue before when Steam has been running in the background. If you have steam installed, right-click on Steam and select 'Exit steam'. If it's not in the taskbar check in the system tray.

Let me know if this isn't the problem and I'll explore other options with you.

It was my joystick. It was sitting at an angle. I have logged in and played successfully several times now since unplugging the joystick.
