You cannot type while you have an interaction menu opened. Maybe adding another button to close all menus would be good. I've faced the same issue (players attacking).

Just spam 'esc' as it works in the same manner as closing the dialogues using the mouse / keyboard combo.

Pressing 'esc' 3 times, gets you completely out of most menus. Click it 3 times in 0.50 seconds issue solved.

You press the ESC button two times, not three. 1st prompt message is the mechanic itself, then the second one is vehicle mods (neons, tyres, 1500.0, etc). So in fact you exit 2 prompt messages. In my opinion this not necessary.
