By that logic you shouldn't be able to help your friend when he fights with someone cause you were not damaged in any way 
Will give you one more simple example: You shouldn't be able to kill anyone if he piss on you, just because you didn't get damaged in any way

Carjacking isn't an attack nor it causes any damage to you, he jacked you from his personal vehicle, If it was yours and he jacked you, you could kill but that's definitely the opposite, Denied.
