so many times, i've been having a great conversation that isnt "directly" related to mcnr only for it to be shut down by a moderator/admin who's only message in 3 hours is the warn and then the mute.

why is it so bad to talk about things that aren't related to mcnr in general? atleast stop handing out mutes and warns for it since it's not really that deep.

Imagine yourself having a nice conversation with someone and a person who hasn't said anything in hours comes and tells you to fuck off.
Ruins the whole conversation. The general isn't even super active and having offtopic and general be the same thing wouldn't make it a spamfest. A lot of the conversation in general is already offtopic to begin with, and the conversations end with a staff member threatening with a mute.

The point is, NOBODY benefits from this stupid rule. Admins/Moderator need to be on the lookout on general for anyone talking about offtopic shit, and regular players get muted almost daily. It's a lose-lose situation. If Karbz/Mike is going to shut this down, atleast provide a good reason as to why this can't happen.

Just read the posts down below, seems as though the only person who disagrees with this is Mike. Who barely speaks in general.

I agree with this entirely. You are having a civilized and calm talk about everyday subject then a staff member gets into it. It's very demotivating to see such action and often leads to breakup of an discussion.

Already suggested this to Karbz and provided every reason a human can think of, as to why the #off-topic rule should be removed. However he declined, so I doubt this will be accepted, but eitherway I support this, +1

WDYM, if discord member would move to #off-topic to talk about something, #general would be dead, nobody talks about mcnr on general, everyone talks about random things and as i've seen, there always was a good/calm/peace conversation, not mentioning banned players who yell at other players like its our fault (Darkvoid) , so if yall dont change this rule, #general chat would be dead.

This #general and #offtopic rules were made back at 2021 I guess when gang wars was still alive and players would directly discuss in #general after war was finished,thus whoever was chatting about something else rather than mcnr would interrupt MCNR talks and Mike added #offtopic.But seeing that MCNR discord is partially dead nowadays,#offtopic should be removed and keep #general alive.

Yes, the rule should loosen up a bit. Conversations can easily and quickly change topic to other stuff, it's very normal and most of the people do this.
No, I can see it somehow disinviting people as they have no say in other people's stuff. Some people may also find it weird to jump in with on-topic stuff when a off-topic discussion is happening. I know there are some people that actually don't give a fuck, but it's really not everyone.

But I support this totally, so i'm more on the 'Yes' side. +1

People who join the Discord server for MCNR expect to be able to talk about MCNR. When #general is filled with memes, gifs, emoji, spam, and off-topic bullshit, it won't feel as inviting.

You have been given a channel for spam/off-topic - be grateful for it and use it. The alternative is that I ban off-topic discussions altogether. People need to stop complaining about non-issues, jesus christ.
