It happens if your car is on the checkpoint and, perhaps, if the cops are nearby.

It appears to be the black box that appears when a dialog is open and it darkens the background. Not sure why. It’s possible entering the checkpoint shows it but changing state hides it.

I replicated it myself, this bug appears when your car is in the mechanic checkpoint. You need get into your car then instantly leave it. Afterwards, screen darkens when you leave your car.

Screen fixes itself when you use a menu, as Hank_Montgomery showed.

Note: Couldn't replicate as Hank showed in his video, only this way.

Thanks, I've managed to replicate it in that way. I'll investigate.
