perhaps animals like the fish and parrot maybe could be either integrated into a new system or simply added as clothing objects. maybe obtain from special events? or allow purchasing? donators only? maybe a way to put them inside your houses?

Pets could be fun yeah, as it'd be a whole new cool feature if implemented correctly. Agree on having a special way to obtain them to make them have a sort of varying rarity (some easier to achieve than others?). Disagree on having it be a donator-only feature, wouldn't promote excitement and hype for most of the playerbase. Agree on all the other extra features that may revolve around them such as that being able to display them in your house, as this would be a nice way to promote the housing system as well. That being said, it could be a nice way to promote many other features and have them prove further uses. Example, convenience stores and fishing. Perhaps have purchasable dyes from shops to allow pet customization? Perhaps have the pets require x amount of feeding by having them eat fish?

Having an aquarium in your house could be really cool. And you would have to take care of the pets too which means having to spend money on them.
I will try my hand at creating some for some interiors (different sizes) and see how this turns out.
