MCNR 5th Anniversary
Mike's Cops and Robbers is celebrating its FIFTH anniversary this week!

We're hosting a giveaway including a free month of Discord Nitro, details for which can be found below!

HISTORY
MCNR launched publicly on the 22nd of April back in 2019. It feels like both a lifetime ago and also 5 minutes ago.
MCNR was slowly but surely developed from 2012 to 2019, with the main efforts put in during 2018 and 2019.
I never thought I'd ever get to launch MCNR, and was hesitant to do so due to the fact that SA-MP was on its way out and I doubted it would be successful.

SUCCESS
It's done pretty well, all considered. I've always enjoyed working on MCNR and seeing people having a good time on it, playing with friends and making new ones.
I've really enjoyed having a great team of staff and assistant developers. At times I've felt like I have to do everything by myself, but it's nice to know I have the support of some great people.

While the playerbase peaked during COVID with 139 concurrent players online at our peak, we still have a relatively stable playercase, considering the hosted tab was canned. The main way to keep MCNR playerbase up is word-of-mouth: refer your friends! You'll both get referral bonuses (more info at https://mikescnr.com/refer).

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
It is not a secret that MCNR development has slowed, and updates have become less feature-packed. This is something that really disappoints me, as it does most of the community. It's something that is always on my mind, and I am committed to putting more time and effort into MCNR as and when I am able to. I really value the community and want to do everything I can to make MCNR better and more fun for everyone.

I don't know what the long-term plan for MCNR is. It may include a move to open MP, it may simply continue as-is.

In the short term, we now have a couple of extra developers (Mido and Goldenboy), along with ChrisAg (M3 has left). Between us, we have some ideas for updates in the next few weeks and months which we hope to get completed to improve the MCNR experience. ChrisAg will be working on improved vehicle customisation, I plan to work on heists/robberies and simlar. Mido and Goldenboy will mostly be focused on fixes and QoL improvements, so that myself and Chris can focus on features.

Thank you to everyone that's ever played on MCNR. Each person that's played on MCNR is one more than I thought there would be!

I will never abandon MCNR, and will continue to work on it for as long as people are interested in playing on it.

MCNR 5th Anniversary Giveaway

Introduction
To celebrate MCNR's 5th anniversary, we're hosting a giveaway!

Prizes
The winner will receive:
- A free month of Discord Nitro.
- £5 donator status (see https://mikescnr.com/donate for rewards). Includes a Vehicle Credit worth $100,000.
- $1,000,000 ($1m) additional in-game cash.
- Rare* 'Cake' in-game clothing item (see below). *Nobody else has this!


Entry Requirements
In order to enter this giveaway, you must:
- Have an account on MCNR which is not currently banned.
- Have a forum account which is not currently banned.
- Have a Discord account, which is not currently banned, and is linked to your MCNR account (https://mikescnr.com/discord/verify).

Timing
Entries are accepted until the end of the 28th of April.
Entries submitted on or after the 29th of April will not be accepted.

All dates/times are UTC.

Winner Selection
The winner will be picked completely at random by Mike at the end of the anniversary week, on the 29th of April.
If the chosen winner does not meet the above criteria, another winner will be chosen at random.
This process will continue until a valid winner is chosen.

Terms and Conditions
- Entries accepted from start of 21/04/2024 til end of 28/04/2024.
- ONE winner will be chosen on 29/04/2024.
- If a chosen winner does not meet the criteria stated above, another random winner will be selected. This process will repeat until a valid winner is selected.
- The winner will be contacted via Discord DM by Mike.
- If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, another winner will be selected.
- If the winner is unable to receive one or more prizes (e.g. they suddenly no longer have a linked Discord account), that prize may be given to someone else selected at random as per the above.
- If the winner becomes banned or otherwise unable to access/use their prizes after receiving them, that is unfortunate, but prizes will not be regifted.
- Prizes to be awarded within 48 hours of winner selection, pending response from winner.
- Prizes cannot be gifted to other players.
- One entry per player. Duplicate entries will be removed.
- If you enter your account ID incorrectly into the form, your entry will be void.
- Winner is chosen randomly by Mike, using a random number generator.

Falling through the floor is an easy fix. What I don't understand is why you're dying - can you replicate this with the scoreboard shown (TAB) so we don't have the screen blacked out? @Hank_Montgomery

Do you have a modification for your hud? i see you wallet is missing 4 zeros and you have 4 error messages. probably the root cause.

There is a /setting to change the /rpv behaviour. Type '/set rpv' to quickly get to that setting.



The first option is default. If you have a primary active vehicle, it will return it, no questions asked. If you have a secondary active vehicle, it will become the primary.
The second option is an inverse of the first - if you have a secondary vehicle, it will return that one first. If you only have a primary, it will return that instead.
The third option will return a primary active vehicle only if you don't have a secondary. If you have multiple active personal vehicles, it will prompt you to select which one to return.
The fourth option will always show the selection menu, even if you only have a single active vehicle.

Shortcodes were added because people can have like 100+ vehicles which can take a long time to find in menus. There's no need for it when there are only two vehicles to choose from..
This is not something I feel is needed.

I think vehicle explosions are client-sided.
You can't stop it*.

You can continually set its health to 250 (below that = fire), but it'd require constantly checking all vehicles' health, for a situation that would be extremely rare. How often are vehicles left with no fuel, and then blown up?

Plus, people may want to blow a vehicle up to clear it away.

The rear garages in those two properties will be added on next server restart (no script update required).

However. vehicles will spawn half inside the fence in front of the garage. I've hardcoded the spawn position in the next script update which will fix that and spawn the vehicle sideways.

I don't plan to do anything like this currently. The 'Weed Burning' mission currently happens there, and I don't want to interfere with that.

I do, however, have plans, one day hopefully, to have NPC missions, e.g. you can go to The Truth's farm and he can give you missions, but that may never happen, who knows.

I have no idea what you're referring to here? I see no reference to such a thing in any of the code.

I do think the Prostitute job could be given more to do, sure, it's just never been a priority. I don't know if or when any additions or improvements will be made to this job, but it's definitely on the table.

Donator rewards are not supposed to be unfair towards those that cannot donate or simply don't wish to do so. I initially wasn't going to give any monetary reward for donating, however settled on 10k per £1. It gives people just enough to say 'hey, thanks for donating, go get yourself something nice' without being pay-to-win. Therefore, I will not increase it at this time.

Increasing it also begs the question of would that be unfair to past donators? Would we give them all the extra cash they'd get if they donated after the change?

So yeah, not for now, but not ruled out forever.

There are 200-250 interiors that would need the NPCs making controllable. NPCs take up player slots. That means there would need to be an extra 200-250 player slots. That uses a lot of resources.

I have thought about this before, and always come to the idea that I'd probably only do this for certain interiors (Ammunation, Bait Shop, General Store / Gas Station, cheaper clothing shops). I don't think the employee in Didier Sachs would start shooting a robber, but the guy that runs the general store or bait shop might, and the Ammunation guy for sure..

But it's not so simple, I'd have to rework the entire way the holdup system works, to allow some to be actors and some to be NPCs. They are treated very differently.

The checkpoints won't always be really close to the destination because of how the system uses nodes of the road as destination markers. If you have actual examples of where a destination is far from the actual target, show the example. But it's unlikely it will be 'fixed'.

Taxi drivers don't get a payday because they are self-employed and get all the money from the customer, unlike other jobs.

There were 2 money given with the name "cargo"


The sum of these two
$43,689 + $45,000 = $88,689
which was shown at the beginning of the cargo advertise

The rest are just bonuses
This. The 45k is the bonus for it being special cargo, and in that example the cargo was worth £43,689. That's the minimum you'll get, hence why it is shown in the message.
